Dawn Prayer
Before the sun has found its voice,
And night still lingers in the sky,
I rise within the quiet hour
Where whispered mercies wander by.
The fields are veiled in silver mist,
The earth still breathing soft and slow;
Creation waits in reverent hush
For heaven’s light to start its glow.
O Lord of morning, hear my call
Before the world begins its race.
My soul awakens first to You,
To seek the comfort of Your grace.
The sparrow stirs within the hedge,
A lonely hymn upon the air;
Yet even it seems bold to sing
Compared to this unspoken prayer.
Forgive the weight of yesterday,
The restless thoughts that cloud my sight;
And wash my heart in quiet truth
Like dew that gathers in the night.
Grant me the strength for what will come,
The patience for each trial to face;
Let every word and work today
Reflect the beauty of Your grace.
For You have filled the rising dawn
With promises both firm and true:
That every morning mercy wakes
To walk the day again with You.
So as the eastern sky grows gold
And shadows yield their silent claim,
I place this fragile life once more
Within the shelter of Your name.
