Where I Choose to Dwell

I could think upon my problems,
Or on my frustrations sore;
I could think of what I want changed,
And become discouraged more.

I could think upon other’s faults,
And judge, with my heart and words.
I could cut down, and not build up;
My words, sore piercing like swords.

I could think of what could happen,
And give way to fear, and distrust.
I could dwell upon much evil,
And fear men, who are only dust.

I could always complain and fret,
Of all that’s wrong with my life.
I could be down, and discouraged;
Much worn down from all the strife.

But I will choose to dwell on God,
And His great goodness to me!
I will choose to look for His gifts,
His dear, loving hand, to see.

I will choose to commit to God
The things outside my control.
I will trust Him to do what’s best,
And seek Him with heart and soul!

I will choose to love with God’s love,
Ev’ry one whom God sends my way.
I will look for, and praise the good,
Showing His love in all I say.

I’ll choose to give thanks, not complain;
For God is ever, always good!
Even when I don’t understand,
Or think He’s doing what He should.

This is where I will choose to dwell;
Beholding my Savior’s face!
Seeking Him for wisdom, and strength,
And walking true, by His grace!
